One mistake people often make is chasing career opportunities based on the company’s brand. But a company is a group of people, and it’s the people that will determine your experience, learning and enjoyment. With the right people you can do incredible things, with the wrong people you can quickly hate going to work. The perks of free food, unlimited holidays and roof top yoga are nice, but if the people and culture aren't right for you, it won't be much fun.
Often, working with an amazing leader, manager, or colleague can be more valuable than the job itself. You can learn valuable lessons about what it takes to succeed, how to behave, or the best way to navigate office politics. These relationships can help shape your career and will stay with you for life, especially early on in your career. If you’re able to take in the knowledge and learn from these experiences, you will be able to take skills and transfer them across jobs.
