Bentley Lewis is committed to equal opportunity. The best leadership decisions are made on merit, and talent is distributed far more widely than opportunity has historically been. This policy sets out how we uphold equal opportunity in two places: within our own firm, and in every search we run for our clients.
Our commitment
We do not discriminate on the basis of any protected characteristic. Across the markets we operate in, that includes age, disability, gender reassignment and gender identity, marriage and civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity, race, colour, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, and genetic information. We treat people fairly whether they are a member of our team, a candidate we represent, or a client we advise.
The frameworks we work within
As a global boutique operating across the United Kingdom, the United States and further afield, we hold ourselves to the standards of every jurisdiction we work in. In the United Kingdom that means the Equality Act 2010. In the United States that means federal equal employment opportunity law, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and applicable state and local law. Where a local requirement sets a higher standard, we apply the higher standard.
Bentley Lewis as an employer
Within our own firm, equal opportunity applies at every stage of employment: how we advertise and fill our roles, selection and hiring, pay and benefits, training and development, promotion, and everyday working life. Decisions about our people are based on ability, performance and potential, never on a protected characteristic. We are committed to a workplace free from discrimination, harassment and victimisation, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
The searches we run
The same principle governs the work we deliver for clients. Our search process is criteria-led and merit-based. We define what a role genuinely requires, then assess every candidate against those criteria. Our AI-supported market intelligence helps us map the whole landscape and reach talent that traditional approaches overlook, which widens the field rather than narrowing it. Final judgment always rests with people. We present candidates on the strength of their fit for the mandate, and we encourage our clients toward fair, structured and inclusive selection at every stage.
Reasonable adjustments and accommodations
We want every candidate to be assessed at their best. If you need an adjustment or accommodation at any point in a process, whether for a disability, a health condition, or another reason, tell us and we will provide it. This applies equally to anyone applying to work at Bentley Lewis.
Raising a concern
If you believe you have experienced or witnessed discrimination in your dealings with Bentley Lewis, we want to know. You can raise it in confidence with the partner leading your engagement, or email us directly at hello@bentleylewis.com. We take every concern seriously and look into it promptly.
